Hats are not only an accessory that Moms love but if you get it right they are also accessories that kids love too. When I first tried to get my kids to wear hats they complained and often they would end up being thrown on the floor – until one day I found a solution.

The way to get my kids to wear a hat was to get something they liked, that was fun and therefore was something they wanted to wear all the time. Here are some tips on what to look out for when buying kids straw hats.

When looking for a straw hat for your little one look for something that is comfortable, for instance look for an inside lining around the base of the crown if your child has sensitive skin. This way when they get hot there skin will not get irritated. Another option is to opt for a soft straw hat that is loosely woven, this way there is no need for an inside lining to be present.

If your child is very young and is prone to losing items when you are out and about, go for a hat that has a fixed string or strap that can be gently placed under there chin. Types of hats that have this string include cowboy hats.

If your child does not like to wear hats then make the idea more fun, opt for a hat that is bright and colorful or similar in style to Mom or Dads. There are many kids straw hats out there that are brightly colored with pinks, greens and blues for example all of which your child will love!
